The Irish Deaf Society has won €3,000 from the “Better Together” awards hosted by the charity support organisation “The Wheel”. The IDS entered a 2 minute clip encouraging people to learn Irish Sign Language which included some photos from the ISL exhibition where celebrities signed letters of the alphabet.
We also had Ronan Dunne, Eddie Redmond, Brenda Dunne, Tracey Treanor, Paul Etuh and Lillie Lynch in the video. There were two rounds in the competition. In the 1st round, the top ten videos who got the most public votes went through to the 2nd round. The IDS scraped through to the 2nd round where the top 10 videos were watched by a panel of judges who picked the winner.
The IDS was selected as the best video in the category of “medium organisation” where the organisation earns less than €500,000 a year.
