Hi! I’m Dearbhla, and I’m the Deaf Awareness Administrator at the Irish Deaf Society.  I mostly work from home, with a few days a month in the office.

My role is focused on promoting and organising Deaf Awareness Training for schools, organisations, public bodies, and private companies.

Did you know that public bodies have obligations under the Irish Sign Language Act to ensure their services are accessible? That’s one reason why we offer Deaf Awareness Training – to help organisations meet these requirements and create more inclusive spaces.

I can guide you through what a Deaf Awareness Training workshop involves, help schedule a date and time, and arrange the right presenter and interpreter. Workshops can be in person or via Zoom, whichever works best for you!

We also recently launched a short online Deaf Awareness Training course, perfect for individuals who want to learn at their own pace.

You can reach me at deafawareness@irishdeafsociety.ie or on WhatsApp at 086 834 2253, and find out more on our website: irishdeafsociety.ie/deaf-awareness-training

I’m happy to answer questions and help your organisation take the next step in Deaf Awareness and inclusion!
